Mid Day
Mumbai, May 28: The Vasai police on Saturday arrested four men who had allegedly assaulted two Christian clergymen on Friday evening.
On Friday, when Ramesh Vilat (28) and Deepak alias Jifar (38) were returning from Bhui Gaon village in Vasai taluka after a weekly prayer meeting, the four accused allegedly stripped and beat them.
They suspected that the clergymen were on a mission to convert the villagers.
In spite of the injuries, Vilat and Deepak have decided to continue their work in the village.
Ironically, yesterday, thousands of Christians gathered at prayer rallies in about 60 places in Mumbai, to appeal for communal harmony in the country.
