Bengaluru, Aug 1 (DHNS): Rains resumed in several parts of the State on Friday after a brief lull.

Karwar received incessant rains since Thursday night. It rained 171.8 mm in the district in the past 24 hours.

Bhatkal recorded a rainfall of 49.4 mm followed by Honnavar (26.6 mm), Ankola (26.4 mm) Kumta (17 mm), Joida (14.2 mm) and Karwar (10.6 mm). Yadgir district also received good rains on Friday bringing relief for the farmers who were anxiously waiting for the showers. Surpur, Hunasagi and Kembhavi received rains for more than an hour.The sky remained overcast throughout the district.

Rains have resumed in Haveri district also. It rained intermittently across the district. Sowing has been completed on 90 per cent of cultivable land in the district.

Ballari received rains for about 30 minutes in the evening. Vehicular movement was affected due to flash showers. Bagalkot got its maiden rains on Friday, two months after the onset of monsoons.

Shivamogga

After a brief lull, intermittent rains lashed several parts of the district. Hosanagar, Sagar, Thirthahalli, Shivamogga, Bhadravathi, some parts of Shikaripur and Sorab received intermittent rains.

In the last 24 hours, Sorab received the highest rainfall of 9.00mm, followed by Thirthahalli (8.20 mm), Sagar (7.80 mm) and Hosanagar (5 mm). Water level rose to 1782.90 feet against the maximum level of 1819 feet in Linganamakki dam. The water level in Bhadra dam rose to 164.80 feet against the maximum level of 186.00 feet.

Mangaluru and Kodagu

Intermittent rains lashed across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Friday. In the last 24 hours, Moodbidri received 52.4 mm, followed by Mangaluru (34.3 mm), Belthangady (29.4 mm) and Bantwal (26.9 mm). Meanwhile, Udupi district experienced normal showers in some areas during the last 24 hours. Sea erosion has intensified at Kodi Kanyana and Padukere.

On the other hand, the rain was weak in Kodagu district. The water-level in Harangi reservoir stood at 2857.13 feet.
