Sharjah, Aug 14 (Emirates 247): A major fire broke out in an under-construction building on Jamal Abdul Nasir Street in Sharjah.
It broke out at around 10.15pm and the fire-fighting teams of the civil defence were on the scene to extinguish the fire at the time of writing this report.
According to eye witnesses, the police have cordoned off the area and vacated the residential buildings around it.
Police have been diverting traffic as there were long queues of the vehicles on Al Khan bridge coming from Dubai.
Eyewitnesses told Emirates 24l7 that the fire started from the top floor and was slowing moving down to the lower floor when the civil defence teams were trying to put out the fire.
“We can also see burning debris falling from the top floor of the building. This could put people in danger who are standing nearby the building watching the fire,” said an eyewitness Usman.
