Kundapur, Aug 18: "There was a time when the Himalayas and the water bodies surrounding the peninsular, and the then Gandhara to Brahmadesha area formed borders of India. The purpose of observing 'Akhand Bharat Sankalp Divas' is to pledge ourselves to the cause of building India again to its past glory, both in vastness and eminence," said convener of southern provincial convener of Hindu Jagran Vedike, Satyajit Suratkal.
He was speaking after inaugurating 'Akhand Bharat Sankalp Divas' organized at Sri Mahadevi Kuntiyamma temple yard in the town on the night of Monday August 17 under the aegis of Tallur unit of Hindu Jagran Vedike.
"During the pre-Independence era, Indians had come together to release the country from the clutches of Britishers. A time has come again to dedicate ourselves to the cause of protecting mother India, which is getting torn into pieces. Our nation is facing the necessity to prepare itself to ably fight against onslaughts that are being engineered on it time and again," he stressed. He also exhorted the Indians to be patriotic and come together to protect the country.
Satyajit regretted the fact that the system now has become so wretched that everyone knows the names of terrorists and politicians who get wide recognition and respect. "The memory of thousands of freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for securing the release of our country from the clutches of imperialism and become an independent nation, is getting obliterated from our minds," he lamented.
Even after Independence, thousands of our soldiers are gallantly fighting to protect the borders and dying at different border areas of the country, but we fail to even spare a thought for them. This is the most tragic aspect of our nation. We are living in a situation where lessons are taught on the basis of history that was twisted and turned by the Britishers to suit their agenda, and we are made to trust these ammended versions of our glorious past. There is a need to make organized effort to rebuild the history pages of the country based on actual happenings and facts," he felt.
A torch parade taken out before the programme from Uppinakudru Lord Vasudeva temple was inaugurated by Sampark Pramukh of south province temples, Premanand Shetty Katkere. This procession wound through two and half kilometres of road to reach the venue of the meeting.
Managing trustee of Lord Mahalingeshwara temple, R Vasant Hegde, presided over the meeting. District president of Hindu Jagran Vedike, Aravind Koteshwar, Vasudeva Gangolli, and Kiran Devadiga Tallur were at the dais.
