Dubai, Jun 16: It is in Foodland Hotel this afternoon Committee Members and Well Wishers of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha hosted a farewell party to  Jagannath Anchan and  Sunita Anchan who have decided and are proceeding on to their home in Mumbai to spend the rest of their life.  This decission was taken by the much loved couple after completing their 30 years of service in this golden sands of UAE which was again a home away from home to both of them.

The story goes back to the year 1977 when Jagannath Anchan landed on the soil of U.A.E. to give a kick start to his career which initially was a rough road through until he got an opportunity to join Etisalat.  You can say it was the lady luck behind his success when  Sunita joined him few years later.  Sunita got a good start with ADAS with whom she is still working and who do not wish to releave her because of her dedication to the job.  She will be joing Jagannath soonly as soon as she gets a nod from her employer. Blessed with 2 sons of whom one is in the States and one back in Mumbai whom I always call two strong pillars of their family.

Jagannath was not only the member of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha but also a member of Billawa Balaga Abu Dhabi and regular visitor of Indian Social Centre.  Sunita also other than supporting her husband is also a member of Indian Ladies Association, Abu Dhabi.  Both of them have won several achievements in these social institutions such as 'Best Couple', Cookery Competions, etc. Their son Sanjay had won 'Best Teen Prince' and many other awards in Toastmasters.

Sarvotham Shetty opened todays programme with welcoming the guests, Dr. Chandrakumari B.R. Shetty of NMC Group and  Sudhir Kumar Shetty of UAE Exchange.

Sarvotham Shetty chief convenor of ADKS praised Jagannath and Sunita for their hard work and commitment to the society.  He also mentioned that people always recollect and approach Jagannath whenever they have some work in Etisalat.   Sudhir Kumar Shetty's small and sweet speach was very much impressing wherein he also asked the couple 'what is the secret behind your looking 'always young'.  Dr. Chandra Kumari B.R. Shetty in her speach remembered the good old days of school in Karkala where Jagannath used to study.

Among the other Committee Members who spoke were Manohar Tonse, Srinivas Achar, Ananth, Ravi Rai, Loyalla Pinto and Shodhan Prasad.  Namita Ananth, Anvita Achar and Ananya Ananth also gave a brief and sweet talk.  Well wishers like  Kishore Kotian, Kiran Kotian and  Navinkumar Kankanady and his family were also present during the function.

Jagannath and Sunita both thanked the gathering in their own styles and were not able to hold their emotions.  Tears dropped from Jagannath's eyes and was speachless for a moment when he deeply thought of the parting from his social life in Abu Dhabi specially Karnataka Sangha.  This is the dedication and attachment to the community as a whole.  A momento was presented to the couple by Dr. Chandrakumari B. R. Shetty and Sudhir Kumar Shetty on behalf of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and the event was concluded with some good old memories and also Ananth mentioned about the recent awards honoured to one of our dedicated member  Manohar Tonse in three occassions back in Bangalore and Mumbai.

The programme was followed by sumptous lunch which concluded at around 4pm
