Mangaluru, Aug 27: The Ullal police on Thursday August 27 busted an alleged prostitution racket that was going on in an unoccupied house at Someshwar and arrested three persons, while two others managed to escape.
During the arrest operation, one of the accused assaulted police constable Mahesh Gatti and hindered him from carrying out official duty.

The arrested are Rakesh (34), a resident of New Uchila, Mohammed Siraj (30) of Beeri, and 35-year-old married woman from Asaigoli.
Two others, identified as Abbas of Beeri and Jafar, a resident of Mukkacheri, escaped.
The locals had informed that police that some persons were using the unoccupied house located near the railway station. Acting on the information, the Ullal police led by SI Bharati raided the house.
On seeing the police, Abbas and Jafar jumped over the compound wall and fled while the other three who were in the house were arrested with the help of the locals.
Even as the two accused were jumping over the compound wall, another accused, Rakesh, also tried to escape by the same route. Police constable Mahesh Gatti, who serves as driver for Ullal police, saw the accused escaping and tried to stop them. Mahesh too jumped over the wall and chased Rakesh for about ten minutes and managed to nab him. However, Rakesh fought back and assaulted the constable with whatever he could lay his hands on. It took the constable about 15 minutes to overpower Rakesh, who was well-built and strong. In the process, Mahesh was injured and later admitted to a hospital in Deralakatte.
Ullal police have registered a case and are investigating.
