Beltangady, Sep 2: Baby Dithi is barely two years old, but she is already fighting for survival. Her young mother who brought her to this world is ready to become her saviour too, but she needs help from generous donors and of course, lots of prayers to save her little daughter.
Baby Dithi, aged 1 year and 11 months, from Balanja village in Beltangady taluk has been suffering from end stage liver disease and needs to undergo liver transplantation at the earliest.
Dithi is the daughter of Ratnavati and Manohar Balanja, an agriculturist who also works as a reporter for a newspaper. The liver transplantation has already been scheduled at Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital in Bengaluru.
Dithi has been suffering with end stage liver disease for the past 5 months and has been under treatment. Dr Sanjay Rao, senior consultant from Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital in Bengaluru has opined that Dithi needs liver transplantation for survival.
Dithi's 27-year-old mother Ratnavati has agreed to donate her liver. With the child having B-positive blood group and the donor mother O-positive group, the transplant is possible.
Manohar comes from an economically poor background and it is not possible for him to bear all the expenses related to the transplantation and other post surgery care. The total amount required is Rs 24 lac, out of which Rs 16 lac would go for donor and recipient operations and Rs 8 lac for other medical expenses.
The transplantation has been postponed for want of money. Manohar has requested daijiworld readers to help him to save his daughter's life. Your help can give a new lease of life to the child and honour a mother's sacrifice.
