Brampton, Sep 8: Konkani Catholics of Brampton (KCOB) celebrated their third annual Monthi Fest on Saturday, September 5, at St John Fisher Church, Brampton, Canada, with overwhelming response and support of the members of the Konkani community.
The event started with a grand Eucharistic celebration in Konkani by Fr Henry Alva and Fr Andrew Lewis accompanied by a melodious Konkani choir. Procession by children to offer flowers to Mother Mary (Fula Udonche) while everyone followed singing Sakkad Sangatha Melyan and Moriyek Hogolsiya. It was breathtaking to watch the culture being passed on to next generation. Children were treated with Kobu and goodie bags.
Emcee took over the evening by welcoming all the guests and the event started with blessing of Novenm and was served in traditional coconut milk and jaggery. The guests were entertained for the evening with children’s dance, instrumental on guitar, songs by melodious members and rocking DJ music leading to foot tapping dance by all. Konkani jokes and games with spot prizes, 50:50 draw and door prizes made the evening more entertaining and most of all an interactive experience with the community.
Dinner was served on time and guests were yet again thrilled to enjoy the traditional authentic Novenm Jovaan. The aroma and taste of the Mangalurean food brought back memories of hometown and good servings of delicious vorn sealed the dinner experience with a great Mangalurean experience.
Great support from the sponsors with financial contributions, door prizes and spot prizes made the event possible and a big thank to all of them for their generosity.
An amazing evening of tradition, fun & frolic was possible because of the support and dedication of KCOB organisers and their families.
