Monthi Fest: EKKVOTE, Bengaluru

By Vincent Bothello

Bengaluru, Sep 11: EKKVOTE, an Association of Konkani Catholics of Bengaluru East, celebrated the feast of nativity of Mother Mary, popularly known in Konkani as ‘Monthi Fest’ with ceremony and gaiety at Sadupadesha Seminary Chapel, Hennur Road on September 8. A great number 250-plus of Konkani Catholics from all across Bengaluru had gathered for the Konkani Mass.

The Solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided by Fr Jockim D’Souza (Treasurer, Capuchin Provincialate of Karnataka) with parish priest Fr Lawrence. As a tradition, the new crop (Nove) was blessed by the priest and around 40 children offered flowers to mother Mary.

Choir was sang “Sakkad Sangatha Melya” and “Moriyek Hogolsiyam”.

Sugarcane was distributed to the children after the mass and vegetarian meal was arranged for all.

EKKVOTE has been organizing the Monthi Fest celebration from 5 years.
