Cornwall, Jul 23: A 44-year-old cricketer died after being hit in the chest by the ball at a village match at Porthleven, Cornwall on Sunday.
Ambulanceman Derek Newman was representing Porthleven Cricket Club against local rivals St Just when the incident took place.
He was treated by fellow paramedics on the pitch, before being taken to hospital, where he later died.
Porthleven Cricket Club's chairman John Walker said: "He went for a high catch, it hit him in the chest and he collapsed. Obviously our thoughts are with his wife and daughter."
