Iran successfully tests long-range missile

Tehran, Oct 11 (IANS): Iran on Sunday successfully test-fired a long-range missile, state Defence Minister Hossein Dehqan said.

Designed and manufactured by Iranian experts, the missile named "Emad" is "Iran's first long-range missile that can be guided and controlled until hitting the target," Dehghan said.

It is able to destroy the targets with high precision, the Iranian minister said without further details on the technical specifications and range of the missile, Xinhua news agency reported.

"Iran will never seek anybody's permission for enhancement of its deterrent power and missile capabilities," he added.

Iran has the largest ballistic missile arsenal in the Middle East and has developed a 2,000-km missile.
