Dubai, Nov 1: United Brahmavarites (UB), the united forum of the Brahmavarites working and living in the UAE completed four successful years and stepped into a challenging 5th year. The milestone was marked with a unique celebration and a novel ‘Super Moms’ dance completion for the mothers sending clear signals that UB has taken fast strides in achieving its goals and creating a homely environment for its members. The celebration held on Friday October 30 at the India Club would go down the annals of the UB as one of the most memorable events.
The special attraction of this year’s anniversary celebrations was ‘UB Super Moms’, a first-of-its-kind, unique dance competition conceptualized exclusively for the mothers. It was a special event which gave mothers an opportunity to bring forth their hidden talent. Often mothers spend much of their time, energy and resource in spotting, nurturing and promoting the talents of their children.
Despite their hectic office and house chores, mothers find time for their children in particular and family in general. Many of the times mothers sacrifice their own music & arts’ career for the sake of their family and children.
Keeping this in mind, UB took the initiative of providing a wonderful platform to mothers to exhibit their talent through ‘Super Moms’ dance competition. It was a novel and innovative competition and came in special praise from all the gathered. Talented mothers wooed the audience with their elegant dances keeping the audience glued to their seats in awe and appreciation till the end.
Earlier the programme began at 12.30 noon with a graceful welcome dance by Ishita Shekar which was followed by a short introduction about UB by the compere of the event Roshan D’Silva. He mentioned that the purpose of such get-togethers is not only to bring people together but also enrich cordiality and enhance unity.
'United Brahmavarites’ president Jeevan Sequeira welcomed the chief guest B K Ganesh Rai, a multi-talented personality, well-known for his achievements in the field of language, literature, art, sculpture art and painting, senior UB member Thomas Suares and escorted them to the dais along with secretary Philomena D’Costa. In his welcome speech president Jeevan thanked all the members for their support and reminded them of the responsibilities of responding to the problems and situations of Brahmavarites.
Introducing the chief Guest, joint secretary Nitasha Banz spoke about the contributions and achievements of Ganesh Rai in various fields such as language, literature, art and painting. Rai is also associated with numerous associations and institutions in UAE with his selfless and tireless services. She listed a few of the awards and recognitions acknowledging Rai’s work in India and abroad.
Philomena D’Costa read a brief report about the forum and presented the future plans and activities.
Thomas Suares, in his address lauded the good work and growth of UB group in four years and also remembered symbolic planting of a coconut tree on the occasion of the formation of UB group, wished growth and prosperity to the group to continue the good work.
In his speech Ganesh Rai thanked the rulers of UAE for providing such an opportunity. On UB entering 5th year of its existence, Rai hailed it as a milestone of ‘Pancha’ that is, five, with varies examples and compared UB with the formation of flying birds in V shape for the good leadership of UB and its members. He Suggested UB do some great work which will mark its footprints in and around Brahmavar. Speaking on the benefits we received from the country, he suggested everyone to donate blood in the form of returning thanks to this country.
UAE’s renowned DJ Brian Bosco kept the audience on the dance floor with his rhythmic music.
The elegant dance performances by UB kids Ansita, Yashaswi, Alrish, Mayola, Mekhala and wonderful dance by Janet, Priyanka, Diana and Veena were eye-catching. Ashlin, Shayan, Chandini, Nestor, Jovian, Rita, Kelrina, Nestor, Aurelia, Riyona, Jayden and Annick had the audience asking for more with their scintillating dance performances. Vinola and Avitha Lobo enthralled the audience with melodious Konkani numbers.
The humour quotient of the day was adequately looked after by humorous skits from Janet Sequeira, Stanny Dcunha, James Pius D’Souza, Johnson D’Silva and Avith Lobo. Their rib-tickling comedy sent the audience in peals of laughter.
Magician Murray from Kid education entertained the audience with his Magic tricks.
The competition was judged by Arun Lobo, Nixon D’Souza, Rajesh Gatti and Rohini Ananth.
The Super Mom competition was ably compered by Janet Sequeira.
After a neck-and-neck competition following were announced winners:

2nd Best performance: Joylin D'Souza
3rd Best performance: Matilda Furtado
UB vice-president Alwyn Crasta proposed the vote of thanks. Sponsors Robert Sequeira, Isabella D’Souza, Alfred D’Costa, Lancy Serrao, Meena Anmol Builders, Brahmavar and Valentine Residency Brahmavar were felicitated by the chief guest after which lucky draw was held.
The compere of the day Roshan D’Silva exhibited exemplary skills in keeping the audience busy and attentive. His unique brand of compering interspersed with jokes came in praise of the audience and the organizers.
The well-organized programme gave a clear indication that United Brahmavarites and its office-bearers are committed to delivering quality programmes in the coming days. The programme came to an end with the baila dance that had almost everyone storming to the dance floor.
Overall, it was a fun-filled and enjoyable day for all who attended function.
