Don’t use Bihar verdict to disrupt Parliament: Govt tells opposition

New Delhi, Nov 9 (HT) : The election victory in Bihar should not be used to disrupt the upcoming winter session of Parliament set to begin November 26, union parliamentary affairs minister M Venkaiah Naidu told the Opposition on Monday.

Talking to reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA), Naidu said the poll verdict reflected the aspirations of the people of Bihar and not of the nation.

“We will do a detailed analysis of the outcome, but all concerned need to understand that the Bihar verdict needs to be taken in the right perspective. To interpret the result as a mandate to disrupt Parliament is questioning the wisdom of people of the state,” he said.

He asserted that it was wrong to say the Bihar results reflected the country’s mood and that the Grand Alliance -- comprising the Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress -- won only because the “social arithmetic” was in their favour.

The previous session was a near washout with the Opposition repeatedly disrupting both houses of Parliament over corruption charges involving three senior BJP leaders.

The Narendra Modi government is keen to take up important legislations like the GST bill, Land Acquisition Bill, the Real Estate Regulation and Development Bill and Negotiable Instruments Arbitration Bill.

“The verdict is a clear statement of Bihar’s aspirations as their development and that of India are inter-linked and mutually reinforcing. People of Bihar also want development like any other state and have given their mandate to Nitish,” Naidu said.

The CCPA chaired by union home minister Rajnath Singh decided to hold the winter session from November 26 to December 23.

I think at this moment a major Scam is happening in India. (Mother of all scams comparing to previous scams and amount of money involved ) India import most of its Oil & gas from Iran, Russia & other middle eastern countries. Oil & Gas (Petroleum products) price is below $ 45 per barrel at world market and it is a net savings of $ 70plus per barrel comparing to Previous Man Mohan Singh Administration. I do not see any reduction in petroleum products in India comparing to previous Administration. Who is benefitting from the reduction of crude oil. What is the total benefit to Indian people.

The Congress opposition is not disruptive as you were during UPA regime. I hope congress will not allow you to bring FDI because you have opposed it during the UPA rule.

Despite having clear majority, BJP Govt finding it difficult to function.
They are now exhorting not to disrupt parliament, which is right but what precedence they applied when they were in opposition? Did they allowed UPA to work? Pass GST?
    Reap what you have sowed!
What goes out comes back as well.

BJP legitimized the disruption of parliament. Jaitley the then opposition leader, called it as a legitimate right of the opposition. BJP therefore, can only beg, appeal or request but can not demand. As simple as that.

Disruption of parliament is definitely not healthy. Only way out now looks like BJP to apologize to the nation probably with some man ki bhat or some dal baat, that they did a anti-development act, since 2011.

You are in government.Your responsibility to see that daily business is ongoing in Parliament.

You should take opposition also onboard.

Leave your arrogancy aside. talk to all parties and even small party leaders,Independent candidates. Take all of them in confidence.

Just Blaming opposition is not the excuse to not to run parliament.
