Udupi: Congress will take action against rebel candidates: Oscar

Udupi, Dec 13: Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes on Sunday December 13 said his party Congress has decided to take action against rebel candidates from the party contesting the upcoming MLC elections, namely former MP Jayaprakash Hegde and Harikrishna Bantwal.

Oscar was speaking during the prepartory 'Chappara Muhurat' rituals ahead of the Paryaya in Udupi to be held on January 18.

"As per the Constitution, only the candidates who have been endorsed by the party belong to the party. Others candidates do not belong to the party," Oscar said.

"Anyone can stand for elections. But the Constitution says that only the candidates chosen by the party are called party candidates. Those who go against the rule do not belong to the party. The party has already decided to take acttion against the rebel candidates," Oscar said.

Speaking about National Herald issue, Oscar said, "The union government has transferred the officer who investigated the case. The accusation is not against the government but against us. Instead of persecuting us, the union government, which won by majority, should work towards looking after the interests of the people. I am proud to be the trustee of National Herald which was founded by Jawaharlal Nehru during independence."

Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake who also spoke during the occasion said, "Pratapchandra Shetty was chosen only after taking the legislators and block Congress presidents into confidence. The chief minister Siddaramaiah and Congress state president Parameshwar tried to convince Jayaprakash Hegde and Harikrishna Bantwal to withdraw the nominations. But they did not listen and still remain in the fray. Parameshwar has decided to take appropriate action against them, and questioned why at all they contested as rebel candidates."

    Already the congress is weak in Karavali Belt. Sidelining JPH will only make is worse.
    JPH is a person who does work unlike other congress or BJP elected representatives.
    such decisions of so called 'high command' will wipe out congress. If that happens, Oscar will be directly responsible for the downfall of congress.

    We call him Asker, that's why he say "ask her ". He was Minister for " Road Transport and Highway" in previous govt. what he did , we can see lots of accident from Bhatkal to mangalore. At least near to his constituency he could have speed up the work. They don't know pain of the family who lost their family members. Now he is destroying the party by removing active politician.

    If Oscar sir reads this article, I mean comments people have put here. He would understand what is the action people have taken and what opinion people have on him. With his contacts with Central congress leaders, during UPA1 and UPA2, he could have done Miracle to DK and UDUPI, or at least to UDUPI. I don't see any good work done by him in recent years.

    I met Oscar first time in 1979...at that time he was not holding any political post..just former member of Udupi town municipality(1972-1977) and General Secretary of District Youth Congress ...he was more a social worker than a politician...

    At that time nobody thought he will ever contest for any MLA/MP election...

    Now he is distributing party tickets like service bus booking agent...and people running behind him for tickets really looks funny for me...If I meet him, want to ask him if he was happy then or happy with his new avataar...

    Any way if God wishes nobody can dispose...

He is there for nothing. all mangaloreans and udupi people can see our airport and can see Kerala state having how many international airports, and all the MP's from kerala doing for their state and here Oscar doing for his name sake.
