Udupi, Aug 31: ‘Bidira Daniya Baduku,’ an exhibition of digital prints of paintings of budding artist Purushothama Adve will be held at the Gallery Drishti, here from September 2 to 4, said the president of Artists’ Forum, Ramesh Rao.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, he said that nowadays paintings were too costly to purchase and decorate the houses and business establishments, and it was not possible for all sections of the society to afford the highest price.

To make the paintings affordable to masses, digital prints of those paintings would be made available through these exhibitions.

Most of Adves paintings had already been sold at the exhibitions organised at Bangalore, Mangalore, Mumbai etc. Prints of those popular paintings would be exhibited and made available to the art lovers, he said.

“Though the trend of selling prints of paintings is new in Udupi, it is popular in Metros and had started long back in 1950s. Ravi Varma’s paintings became popular after they were made available in prints,” Ramesh added.

As the Krishnashtami is near, prints of paintings focusing mainly on the rural folk with regard to bamboo would be exhibited, said Pururshottham Adve.

President of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Sahithya Parishath Pradeep Kumar Kalkura will inaugurate the exhibition on Sunday. Writer Jyothi Guruprasad will be the chief guest.

Ramesh Rao will preside. ‘Bidira Dani,’ a musical performance using bamboo by musician Gururaja Marpalli will be organised on the occasion. Exhibition will remain open from 10 am to 7 pm on all the three days.
