Etihad, Jet Airways passenger traffic rises by 63 percent

New Delhi, Feb 16 (IANS): United Arab Emirates' (UAE) national airline Etihad Airways on Tuesday said that its full year passenger traffic to and from India with partner Jet Airways grew by 63 percent in 2015.

"There is further room to grow and we are looking at the many opportunities that exist to develop our operations (Etihad and Jet Airways partnership)," said James Hogan, Etihad Airways president and CEO, in a statement.

Jet Airways and Etihad Airways together carried 3.3 million passengers in 2015 between Etihad Airways hub Abu Dhabi and India compared to two million flown in 2014.

Together, the airlines offer 44,000 seats a week between India and Abu Dhabi, the statement said.

Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram feature in Etihad's Indian destinations while Jet Airways offers the additional connectivity to other Indian cities Pune, Lucknow, Goa, Mangalore and others.

Etihad Airways also operates 14 weekly cargo flights to four Indian cities, the statement added.

Starting operations in 2003, Etihad flies passengers and cargo to more than 116 destinations across the globe with a fleet of 120 aircraft.
