Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai

Dubai, Feb 17: Daiji Dubai, a forum of Konkani writers in the UAE has announced its 17th anniversary and invites everyone to be a part of the celebration and gala show.

The exciting merriment will be held at Emirates International School Auditorium, Dubai on April 8 (Friday) at 5:30 pm. Daiji Dubai always celebrated its anniversaries in Dubai. However, the long established practice was broken when it rejoiced its 14th, 15th and 16th anniversaries at Udupi, Mumbai and Mangaluru respectively. UAE being its second home, the forum is back in Dubai to celebrate its anniversary this time.

Daiji anniversary which has always been a high profile and professionally managed entertainment programme is considered one of the prestigious Konkani events and is being patronized by a large audience, every year. During the event, traditionally the prestigious 'Daiji Puroskar' is awarded to a Konkani literature personality. Popular poet, activist and Central Sahitya Akademi Award winner Melvyn Rodrigues would be the 17th to receive this honour. The selection for the second edition of the Late MickMax Memorial Award for the best playwright is under process and will be announced very soon.

The 17th anniversary is going to be bigger and better than ever, it is like coming back home. A part of the magnificent celebration includes a full length critically acclaimed Konkani stage play, written and directed by well-known Eddie Sequeira. 'Parath Ek Pavtim' (One More Time) will be organized by Daiji Rang Mandir, a center of performing arts and cultural wing of Daiji Dubai. The seasoned artistes always bring the quality factor and that will make a huge difference to this show. Skillful Eddie Sequeira and his passionate team of artistes from Mangaluru are sure to cast a spell on the audience. That’s not all. A sentimental musical tribute will be presented in remembrance of MickMax's 10th death anniversary.

The members of Daiji Dubai have requested everyone to support the programme with their presence and contributie in whichever way appropriate. As is well known, besides its cultural identity, 'Daiji Dubai' is also associated with many worthy social causes thereby motivating other people and organizations worldwide.

More details about the programme will be announced in daijiworld.com in the coming days.
