Woman cuts privates of man while defending rape attempt

Bhopal, Mar 1 (TOI) : In a second such incident in month, a tribal woman cut the private part of the man trying to rape her using a kitchen knife in Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday night.

The incident took place at Govarde village under Manpur police station of the district at 10 pm.

The accused Ramkaran Prajapati, 29, who had serious injury on his private part, was rushed to police station at 3 am and lodged a complaint against the woman.

But during the course of investigations by police, it emerged that the accused was trying to rape the woman when she executed the crime.

"We registered a case against the survivor on the complaint of Ramkaran Prajapati, but during the investigations it emerged that she did so while Ramkaran attempted to rape her, a case of attempt to rape was registered against Ramkaran Prajapati on Monday," Manpur police station incharge, Shiv Shankar Mishra told TOI.

He added, "The accused Ramkaran is a distant relative of the survivor and he came to their house on February 28, and took the survivor and her husband to a local fair. On returning he requested the survivor's husband to fetch liquor and when he went away, the accused attempted to rape the survivor. He even thrashed her badly, during the course of this, the survivor anyhow managed to get kitchen knife and chopped off his private part".

The incident took place at 10 pm, but Ramkaran did not make any complaint at first, but as he was bleeding profusely, he had to approach doctors at hospitals, but doctors refused to treat without intimating to police, subsequently he reached Manpur police station and made a complaint that survivor and her husband chopped off his private part, but the actual facts came up during the course of investigations, Mishra said.

Ramkaran Prajapati, is undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Manpur.

Earlier, on February 11, a woman chopped off the genitals of her brother in law who tried to rape her, in Sidhi district and walked into the nearby police station with severed organ and alleged that the severing the organ was the only way to protect her.

I appreciate her in this. These criminals must be treated like this only. Even when the man approach any woman to rape her it is enough is she catches his private part and squeeze it along with the balls. He cannot tolerate the pain and run away. This is the best punishment which can be given. Whenever he think about a woman his private part will start paining

Are brothels giving free service ?? Majority of rapes in India are by relatives or known people. Surely they wanted some pleasure for free. Do you think they will pay for the service when it can availed for free ?

When I read this article, it reminds me of a Lorena Bobbitt, who 21 years back famously sliced off her husband John Wayne Bobbitt's private part in 1993 with a kitchen knife as he slept - before driving away and throwing it into a field. Surgeons then successfully reattached Bobbitt's private part. She was found not guilty due to the abuse she suffered from her husband.

Rape is very heinous crime. Deserves harsh condemnation and punishment.
People and law will always sympathies and longing to give justice to the victim.
However, once the victim take harsh revenge like cutting off the private parts
sympathy shifts towards the later victim.
Therefore one shouldn't take law in own hands. This is law of the nature.
But sad part is our law doesn't take quick action, therefore judiciary reform is needed urgently.

First understand the difference between revenge and self defence! The victim did not take revenge in this case... she was defending herself and using the knife on the man was probably the only way to save herself in the situation. It is not a case of taking law into her own hands. It was a case of self defence! Even otherwise nobody would sympathize with the rapist.

    Whenever a person is attacked,
it's not possible to control the behavior.
In that context, I do not say, the woman is wrong!
Since law is unable to give justice to the victims for they have to go by the law.
In that situation civil society may not remain, an eye for eye will be the order of the day. That's the real problem for future.

Point to be noted that this is the second incident (see the last para) where a rape victim protected her honor by severing the organ of the rapist. Here, the man went to the hospital but in the previous one, the man had committed suicide.

The man went to the hospital alright but wasn't ready to go to the police station. At last he did go to the police station but what did he say there ? That the 'COUPLE' attacked him - not that he attacked the woman and she cut his bit - saw the turnover ? Raping is alright but being retaliated by a woman is a ego-damage - eh ?

Imagine if both the men had their organ intact, how long would have the abuse gone on and the women kept tolerating the torture. At the same time, they would have branded to be enjoying the rape, since they did not protest.

I say, women should adorn a kurki-like weapon on their garments to protect their honor. Let the tormentor overpower them and then you overpower him by depriving his right to that pleasure - never again in your kitty !

Proud of you both ladies ! Hope the law is lenient towards you and it releases you to live with your ahead raised high !

    Lydia
Yours is a good suggestion, but to carry a kukri-like weapon on the garments is a bit cumbersome and dangerous. There are foldable knives which open by the press of a button, very safe to carry and quick to use. I think these are not allowed to be sold, but, if the govt really means business, they should allow sale of these, to women to protect themselves.

But what the ladies did is self defence - can't wait till the police come, the man may not last till then and may not even accept him being indulged in any such act.
