Mangaluru: Clicking photos instead of helping accident victim to attract action

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Mar 30: State health minister, U T Khader, said that his department is considering a proposal to honour those who come to the rescue of accident victims immediately and admit them into hospitals with 'lifeguard' awards. "We are considering registration of suo moto cases by health department against whose who get busy capturing the accident scene by either photography or video instead of helping the victims, wherever the department gets information supported by evidence" he stated.

Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday March 29, Khader said that considering the seriousness of the accident and need for treatment, provision has been made under the scheme of the government aimed at meeting treatment expenses in case of accidents upto a limit of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 or Rs 5,000 depending upon where they are treated, like super specialty hospitals, district hospitals, taluk hospitals or private hospitals. He said that for this scheme to succeed, everyone should join hands. He said that plans are afoot to see that all the MLAs convene a meeting of officials of all the hospitals within the constituency and educate them about the provisions of the scheme and the need to implement the scheme in right earnest.

About the TB treatment centre in the city where 30 to 38 patients are being treated with the help of five nurses, three doctors and seven 'D' group workers, he said that the building, which is very old, is being renovated shortly. He said that systems would be strengthened to provide good treatment to TB patients in all the district hospitals.

"A scheme titled 'Manochaitanya' under which medical officers would be visiting primary health centres on the morning of every Tuesday to provide treatment to patients with psychological disorders has been initiated. District level medical officers will visit taluk level hospitals and check the health conditions of patients. This plan envisages drawing of support from NGOs and others. For this purpose, the government provides grant of Rs 1.6 lac," he stated.

Those creatures dosent know when to take photos. They may be eccentric to click photos of accident victims. But it is important here is that the person who takes up the job of taking the victim to Hospital should not be mentally tortured for doing good deed. Instead he should be rewarded in a proper manner. Thats why nobody come forward to help instead take photos.

Recently read every year in india 5 lakh road accidents and 1.5 lakh die. Honour and reward is the best way to encourage the people to save the life of accident victims.

It seems the Indian Consignment of frogs was without a lid. When pointed out: the person doing the transport said : Indian frogs will never be able to jump out as when one tries to jump the others pull it down!!

Here is one minister who is in news for his efforts for a positive change - all we hear are negative comments. How is his MBA relevant here? As for the subject of accident- Yes whenever there is a helpless victim lying on the road- any person taking the picture of the victim ( except news media) should be fined 10K.

What the minister is getting at is ACCOUNTABILITY. Yes we need accountability for MCC, those who are responsible for the pot hole. If it happens in the locality of a corporator- he/ she should be put behind bars and made to pay 100k. Yes sir we urgently need accountability in our system.

Sir please go ahead and do it. They are equally liable to help the victims as police. Instead, they want to click pictures and watch the victim dieing and praying people around clicking pictures and watching for help. This is utter non sense. Can't see any living being in such situation let alone human beings.

In almost all cases when accidents occur, passersby and onlookers refrain from coming to the aid of accident victims mainly to avoid getting involved in police case followed by legal issues. First of all laws must be eased so as not to unnecessarily drag helpers of accident victims to police stations and law courts. I believe even today there’s no dearth of good Samaritans in every part of the country.

Look who is talking, the most publicity hungry health minister. Every 'help' of his has been with full media glare to garner brownie points. As long as public are fools and dont see between the lines they will vote for you.

Mr alphonso, people like you will always comment negative no matter how good the works are. Let's assume for a moment that it is done for publicity, but at least people are benefiting from that.and in case God forbid if you or any member of your family meets with an accident and instead of people helping if they keep on taking pictures what would be your reaction.

To click photos there so many and to help the victims some people go farther and try to click better pictures!
That is result of smart phones. Making use any time, anywhere and as they like. ....... even sometimes the conversation continues from the loo too.
Let there be some guidelines and proper publicity/awareness through media and TV channels.

Many good initiatives, Bravo Qader Sahab.
Can we expect some good step from Transport ministry to prevent such accidents, such as Not using Dipper lights when there are vehicles in the opposite direction. Preventing heavy goods vehicles motoring on over taking track. Proper road signs, proper warning signs where necessary. Proper barriers where road edges are deep. Visible painting on road humps, warning signs before road humps. Prevent vehicles motoring on wrong side of the road to save distance.
IF WE CAN PREVENT MANY ACCIDENTS BY IMPLEMENTING FEW STRICT REGULATION, THERE WON'T BE MANY ACCIDENTS AND INNOCENTS WON'T DIE ON THE ROAD AND PEOPLE WON'T LOOSE THEIR LOVED ONES PREMATURELY.
But, who will do there are no Qader Bhais in every ministry.

Road maintenance, Proper speed regulations, strict action on traffic violators... all these can prevent road accidents substantially if implemented with a will.

Just curious, what will be the evidence? One more video captured by some one else showing that one of them had captured the scene? or cycber cell is going to trace the whatsapp or facebook video to find original uploader? I hope they will involve cyber cell to nab these nasty culprits.

What about BJP MP Hema Malini, who came under criticism for leaving behind the accident victims in Dausa as her vehicle collided with an Alto. All the five of a family travelling in it were seriously injured. She reportedly flagged down a passing vehicle and hitched a ride, leaving behind the victims instead of taking care of them.
