Mangaluru, Apr 2: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim on Saturday April 2 rubbished claims of his transfer and said that they were just rumours.
Sources claimed that A B Ibrahim had been transferred to Mandya, however, when contacted, Ibrahim laughed it off and said there was no such transfer order.
"Transfers are common in our profession. However, I have not been transferred. When it happens, I will let you know," he told daijiworld.
"This is just a rumour," he said, adding, "Rumours have become common in Mangaluru."
From the past few days, rumours have been rife about 'efforts' to get the DC transferred, amidst row over Ibrahim's name in the invitation of Puttur temple car festival, scarcity of sand and so on. Posts on social media like Facebook and WhatsApp claimed that MLAs from the district namely J R Lobo, Mohuiddin Bava and Shakuntala Shetty were lobbying for his transfer, and the opposition parties too had accused the three MLAs of the same. However, J R Lobo had categorically denied the allegations and clarified that neither he nor the other MLAs had approached the CM with any such request.
Sources in Bengaluru too confirmed that no official transfer order has been issued as yet.
A B Ibrahim took charge as deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada in December 2013.
