Kundapur, Apr 3: The police personnel, who have a hectic work schedule, do not normally get sufficient time for recreation. The reward they get for their service is only criticism from public who rarely appreciate their work. But the police department under the leadership of superintendent of police (SP) K Annamalai has been innovative enough to find ways for implementation of new methods to keep the personnel happy and de-stressed. Annamalai's initiative in this regard is praiseworthy and stands as a model for other police officers in the state.
SP Annamalai believes that police should work without pressure and should maintain their health in order to contribute to the health of the society. SP Annamalai himself has taken teh first step in the right direction, with a cycle rally here on Sunday April 3.
A team of 28 including Annamalai started off at 6.30 am from Shiroor near Byndoor on cycle rally to Padubidri. The team included police personnel and lecturers from MIT Manipal. St Antony Cycle Company provided cycles to some of them.
The team stopped at Kundapur for breakfast. Speaking to the media, SP Annamalai said, "This is the best opportunity for police to get relief from weekly work pressure. Cycling helps in maintaining mental stability. Every nerve is activated during cycling. Hence it energises and rejuvenates the cyclist. Negative attitude and apathy towards work disappears and cyclist becomes enthusiastic. A trip every week through the district will help in understanding the situation in every corner."
