Karkala, Apr 8: Idols that were stolen from the Shirlalu Basadi here almost two months ago were found in a sack near Kaduhole, Andaru here on Friday April 8.
Panchaloha idols worth several lacs of rupees along with gold and silver ornaments had been stolen from the historical Shree Adinathaswamy Basadi in Shirlalu here on February 21.
The thieves had broken open the door of the inner sanctum of the temple and taken away Panchaloha idols of Goddess Padmavati, Lord Bahubali, the Basadi deity Lord Adinathaswamy and Bharat, gold masks, gold ornaments like bangle and chain, a gold hood, a silver aureole and puja items.
Among the stolen items, idols of Lord Bahubali, Bharat, Lord Adhinathaswamy and other deities were found in the sack.
The idol of Goddess Padmavati and some others are still missing. Altogether, around 14 idols were said to have been stolen.
Prima facie, it seemed that the thieves had left the sack at the spot.
Ajekar police arrived at the spot and took possession of the idols.
