Mysuru, Apr 23: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said that the cabinet will only be reshuffled after the drought situation is over in the state.
Siddaramaiah was speaking to reporters at Mandakalli airport near here.
Some aspirants who wanted to be inducted into the cabinet have been anxiously waiting for the occasion of reshuffle. The proposed reshuffle has been postponed several times since December citing various reasons. Recently it was said that once the elections were over in 5 states, the CM will take up the reshuffle. Siddaramaiah and state Congress chief Dr Parameshwar had made many trips to New Delhi for the sake of consultation regarding the reshuffle. But every time they said they had been to New Delhi for other reasons. Dissidents and aspirants too had formed their own groups to put pressure on the high command and state leadership.
Siddaramaiah also said that he will not be going to New Delhi this time for any consultation regarding the reshuffle and instead will be concentrating on the management of drought situation.
He also said that Congress government will not celebrate its third year in office due to the severe drought in the state.
On the issue of demand for Dalit CM, he said a Dalit should become the chief minister of the state one day. But he refused to comment on the call given by former MP H Vishwanath on this matter.
Referring to the state’s decision to file appeal in Supreme Court in the cases related to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, he said denotification cases were not filed after Yeddyurappa became the state BJP president, but much before that when he was the chief minister. “Everyone is the same under the law. There is no personal vendetta here.” he stated.
Siddaramaiah revealed that the government has formed four region-level teams, led by ministers T B Jayachandra, V Srinivas Prasad, H K Patil and R V Deshpande, to monitor drought relief works in the state.
“I have already visited seven drought-hit districts and two more tours — from April 25 to 27 and May 2 and 3 — have been planned to assess the situation,” Siddaramaiah said.
