Mangalore: Obstetrics and Gynaecology complex inaugurated at SCS Hospital

Mangalore October 24: Dr H T Manorama Rao, senior gynecologist opined that owing to inappropriately managed medical care, life threatening complications during delivery occur at a high rate in India.
She was speaking after inaugurating Obstetrics and Gynaecology complex at SCS Hospital in the city on Wednesday, October 24.
Dr H T Manorama Rao further observed that every year over 400 to 1000 women die in India during pregnancy and after delivery which is 20% higher than the maternal deaths that occur in the west, she observed.
She suggested the hospitals to give proper health care to pregnant women.
Bharathlal Meena, chairman, KPTCL after launching a new insurance scheme ‘Apna Sampurna Suraksha Bima’ for hospital staff said that the city is next to Bangalore to have more number of hospitals.
Bharathlal Meena called upon the hospitals to focus upon needy and destitute who are deprived of medical facilities owing to poverty.
M Maheshwara Rao, deputy commissioner inaugurating the new website of the hospital www.scshospital.org said that most of the diseases can be prevented if proper importance is given to hygiene.
Malaria is rampant in the city, he said adding that the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) will take stringent measures including imposing fine on those who do not follow the norms laid down by MCC.
Nurses were felicitated in recognition of their service to the hospital.
Dr Suchithra Rao welcomed the gathering and Dr Amarnath Sorake proposed vote of thanks.
