Mangaluru, Jun 1: “Respond positively to the demands of police personnel and do not let them commit suicide or else your name will be written in golden letters in the nation's history,” said former union minister, Janardhan Poojary at district Congress office on Wednesday, June 1.
Refereeing to the media reports which stated that police personnel in Kadur have threatened of suicide along with their family members if their demands were not fulfilled, he said, “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah must always keep in mind that police personnel also have their wives and children. The agitation from police is just since they too have to feed their family and their counterparts in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra are paid more wages.”
“Imagine the situation and the loss to live and property if they go on strike. Lecture is not suitable for the hungry stomach. Till now you have not responded to their problems and rather you have been trying to curb their voice which is being raised from last few days. It is extremely painful that the police personnel are threatening of suicide. It is the duty of the government to suitably fulfil the demands of her servants.”
“You always speak to the IG and the DIG. But have you spoken to a constable or visited his house? Still you have the time to correct your mistake. I request you on behalf of all police personnel to raise their salaries to the standards of Andhra and other states and avert the possible damage to the state. It is the golden opportunity to respond to their needs,” he advised the CM.
Slamming the hike in petrol and diesel prices and implementation of 15 percentcent service tax, he said, “Where are 'Acche Din' that PM had promised during the elections? Due to this hike the prices of essential commodities will touch the skies. Isn't there anyone in the finance ministry to advice you?”
“You target the Nehru family for everything happening in the country and point at them for being responsible for the death of soldiers at the border. But due to irresponsibility of your officials, many lost their lives in army depot fire accident. Every day you leak an issue to the news channels to target the Nehru family. It doesn't give fame to you as you hold the prime minister’s office.”
Speaking about Yettinahole project, he slammed former chief ministers Veerappa Moily and Sadananda Gowda and said, “These two are real traitors of river Nethravathi. They have consumed the Nethravathi water and still supporting the Yettinahole project. Where were you when there was no water to drink? People will not forgive you.”
Congress former deputy mayor Purushottam Chitrapur, leaders TK Sudhir, Arun Coelho and others were present.
