Bengaluru, Jun 2:The decision of the over 5.45 lac state government employees to strike work on Thursday, Jun 2 is likely to paralyse public services in different departments across Karnataka.
The state government employees belonging different grades have decided to abstain from the offices on Thursday all over the State seeking pay-scale on par with the Central Government employees.
The strike would cause inconvenience to the public visiting government offices.
Staff in the intensive care units in hospitals and other essential wings in other departments would not strike work, according to the Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association (KSGEA).
The KSGEA has erected buntings and pasted banners and posters in public places in the city to inform the public about employees’ strike on Thursday.
The KSGEA office-bearers contend that a memorandum has already been submitted to state chief secretary AravidJhadav seeking implementation of pay scales on par with the Central government staff.
However, there was no categorical assurance from the chief secretary and chief minister Siddaramaiah on the implementation of the demand, they said.
“We are going ahead with the strike with a single point agenda that is salary on par with the central government staff,” said Giri Gowda, KSGEA office-bearer, adding: ``We have no other demands now.’’
He said the employees may have to think of intensifying the agitation if the state government refused favourably respond to the demands.
