Mysuru, Jun 2: A person, who has been accused of positioning mobile camera in such a way as to capture the happenings in the bedroom of his neighbour, was caught by the police. The accused arrested happens to be Devanayaka (35), residing in Garadi Street at Bogadi here.
Devanayaka is a welder by profession. Although he hails from Sahukarahundi in the taluk, he had rented a house in Bogadi in the city because of his profession. A family lives by the side of his room with a common wall in between. It is said that he rigged a small hole in the wall of the attic of his house and fitted a camera to this hole. He used to fix the camera to the hole before leaving for job in the morning, and got pleasure by viewing the recording of the day in the evening, police said. Most of the recorded events were changing of clothes by women and such other things.
On Tuesday morning, the daughter of the neighbouring family head noticed during change of clothes after bath that there was a small hole in the wall of the neighbouring house. After she showed this to her father, he too found on close examination that a mobile camera was fitted there. After Devanayaka came back home in the evening, the father visited that house and found what was going on.
After a complaint was filed by the concerned, Saraswatipuram police personnel led by inspector, Poovaiah, visited the spot and conducted inspection. They found from the cellphone of Devanayaka that it contained several scenes of changing of clothes by women. A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been filed against the accused, and he has been remanded to judiciai custody, policemen said.
During inspection, police personnel also stumbled upon 1,100 grams of ganja hidden in the attic. Devanayaka has been booked for this illegal possession too.
