Udupi, Jun 9: Police personnel from Ballari district visited the parental home of Kudligi deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Anupama Shenoy, who has kicked up a controversy by tendering resignation to her post and posting aggressive statuses in Facebook, at Uchchila in the district on Wednesday June 8.
The police reached the home of Anupama's parents near Janapriya Rice Mill Uchchila in Yermal Bada village in the district on Wednesday morning. It is gathered that they collected information about Anupama. Anupama's mother, Nalini, who was alone at home at that time, told the policemen that Anupama has not been in contact with her family. Some sources said that Anupama is already on way to Ballari with some close ones. It is said that besides holding discussions over her resignation episode, the DySP will also address a press conference at Ballari.
It is said that the police personnel asked the family during their visit to convince the DySP not to go ahead with her resignation plans, whenever they are able to contact her.
Thereafter, personnel from Padubidri police station also visited the officer's home. Even then, Anupama's mother was at home, and her father, Radhakrishna Shenoy, and brother, Achutha Shenoy, were not at home. In the meantime, Achutha Shenoy, speaking to some media persons, had expressed the opinion that his sister's Facebook account would have been hacked, as he firmly believed that his sister would not indulge in making scurrilous posts.
In the meanwhile, superintendent of police, Ballari, R Chetan, said that Anupama is expected to come to Ballari on Thursday. Chief minister, Siddaramaiah, has already said that he wants Anupama to withdraw her resignation and continue in police service He also found fault with the media for passing judgements rather than stopping at analyzing the situation. Home minister, G Parameshwar, also said that officers should try to sort out problems if any in consultation with higher officials and resignation is not a proper solution.
It is learnt that the ministers have asked the officials of the department not to take hasty decisions on the resignation tendered by the lady officer.
