Bengaluru, Jun 12: Chief minister (CM) of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, has often claimed himself to be largely an atheist. He has also been putting in efforts to pass anti superstitions law to put to an end blind beliefs.
In the recent past, a crow that was perched atop the official car of the CM, a Toyota Fortuner, at his home office, 'Krishna', had gained publicity. The crow had refused to fly away for sometime even after people made efforts to shoo it away. Some had analyzed that this incident indicated the car in question to be inauspicious. But the CM had said he does not believe in these things.
On Saturday June 11, officials of the secretariat went to the official residence of the CM and handed over to him a newly acquired Toyota Fortuner car for his use. Before doing so, they had also offered puja to this car.
The officials said that the earlier car of the CM bearing registration No. KA 01 G 5734 had already run about eight lac kms, and that it had suffered some dent in its back in a recent accident. The CM will henceforth be using the new car bearing No. KA 01 EA 2016.
The timing of the acquisition of this new car has floated speculation about the CM being superstitious about the earlier car being inauspicious.
