Kundapur, Jun 14: Newly introduced Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus to neglected hamlet, Henberu in the taluk, was inaugurated by Byndoor MLA, K Gopal Poojary, on Monday June 13. Henberu is located some distance away from Byndoor.
It may be recalled that a college student from Henberu, Akshata Devadiga, was murdered when she was walking through a desolate stretch of road leading to her village after alighting from bus when returning from college. Various leaders including former union minister, Veerappa Moily, had promised during their visit here following the student's death, to provide basic amenities to this neglected village.
As the leaders made sincere efforts through government departments to fulfill their promises, the village got asphalted road and solar-powered street lights during the last some months. Steps were also taken to mitigate the water problems faced by villagers. The family of Akshata Devadiga has already received the compensation amount.
At long last, the demand for bus connectivity has now been met. With this, efforts have been made to meet all the promises doled out earlier, said MLA, Gopal Poojary.
KSRTC depot manager here, S Taranath, speaking on the occasion, said that the bus will be commuting between Kundapur an Shirur. "The bus will reach Henberu at 7.55 am. From here, it will reach Byndoor government first grade college and leave from there for Kundapur at 8.20 am. In the evening, it will leave Kunapur and reach the college at 4.30 pm via Byndoor. The bus will leave the college at 4.35pm for Henberu. All the people including students should make use of this service," he requested.
