Bengaluru, Jun 15: Even after several days since Kudligi deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Alnupama Shenoy, resigned from her post under debatable circumstances, the incident has failed to evoke controversies. There have been accusations that the first resignation letter of the DySP was not taken on record by officials, and she was asked to give another letter of resignation as dictated by her higher ups.
As per reports, Shenoy had tendered her resignation, wherein she had blamed Ballari district in-charge minister and excise lobby for creating a situation under which she was forced to quit. It is learnt that Shenoy now plans to approach the governor about the way the officials got her letter in a way they wanted and then accepted it. This development has given rise to fresh interest in this episode.
In the meanwhile, state home minister, Dr G Parameshwar, said that he has only one resignation letter from Anupama with him in which she said she was resigning on account of personal reasons. "Her resignation has been accepted by the government. Now we do not have any connection with her," he clarified.
On Tuesday, the contents of the first letter given by the DySP were made public. In the letter, she had said that she had taken several measures to regulate illegal sale of liquor in the district. She had said that the police circle inspector and sub-inspector resorted to the policy of non-cooperation as they were hand in glove with the liquor lobby, duly adding that with the tacit support of the district in-charge minister, protest was held against her. She clarified that she had decided to resign from her post, having been frustrated by excise lobby and political interference.
Ballari district superintendent of police, R Chetan, is said to have refused to accept this letter. He advised Anupama to submit a fresh letter showing only personal reasons, which she complied with.
In the meanwhile, younger brother of Anupama, Achuth Shenoy, stated that Anupama would be leaving for New Delhi on Wednesday June 15, where she will meet Congress national president, Sonia Gandhi. He said that Anupama plans to give details of harassment she underwent in the hands of a state minister to Sonia.
