Mangaluru, Jun 22: A complaint has been made to the police commissioner of the city commissionerate here, alleging that a police constable, who visited the house of Ibrahim Madaka, president of Amblamogaru unit of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on Monday June 20 night, had beaten up the son of Ibrahim. It is also said that he also committed atrocities on the wife and mother of the victim when they tried to stop the constable.

The person who was at the receiving end of this brutality has been identified as Riaz (29), elder son of Ibrahim Madaka. He has been admitted into a private hospital at Thokkottu.

Reportedly a case was registered against four persons in connection with attack on a local youth named Roshan on Sunday night at Madaka, in Konaje police station. Relating to this incident, two police constables in plainclothes approached the house of Ibrahim at Madaka around midnight on Monday and questioned Riaz about Ibrahim's whereabouts. When he said that his father was away attending a Iftar party at Talapady, they questioned about the location of Aziz and Rizwan's residences, accused of attacking Roshan. When Riaz said he was ignorant about these two people, constable Rajesh is said to have slapped him besides kicking his stomach, and derided him with abusive words. When the constable was dragging away Riaz, his mother and wife tried to block the constable, but he reportedly pushed them away. Thereafter, Riaz was set free and both the constables went in a police jeep, it is reported.

Riaz got admitted into a private hospital at Thokkottu where he is being treated. In the meanwhile, Ibrahim Madaka has given a written complaint to the city commissioner, seeking immediate action against police constable, Rajesh, for committing atrocity on his son and other family members although his family has nothing to do with the alleged incident.

DYFI leaders, Imtiaz B K and Jeevan Raj, who visited the hospital, warned that protestors will lay siege to Konaje police station if the commissioner fails to act on the complaint.
