Mangalore: Direct Flight from City to Saudi for Haj Pilgrims: Oscar

Mangalore Nov 13: Union minister for labour and employment, Oscar Fernandes inaugurated a training programme for Haj pilgrims held under the aegis of the minority division of the DK district Congress at the Town hall here on Monday November 12.
Addressing a gathering of over 600 Haj pilgrims, after wishing them a nice pilgrimage he declared that the Union government is committed to the implementation of the recommendations of Justice Sachar committee.
He assured that the government is doing all it can to implement the report of the commission, as it would help the welfare of minorities in the country.
Moreover, he also assured that he would try his level best to arrange a direct flight from the city to Saudi Arabia for the benefit of Haj pilgrims by next year.
The pilgrims were also counseled on moral codes to be followed during the Haj pilgrimage by various religious scholars. Speaking on the occasion Moinuddin Bawa, president of the minority cell exhorted the pilgrims to promote the ideal of communal harmony.
City’s assistant khazi Abdul Jabbar Musliyar presided. Blossom Fernandes, district Congress president B Ramanath Rai, state minority commission former president K S M Masood among others were present on the occasion.
