Chikkamagaluru, Jul 26: The second additional sessions court here, on Monday July 25, dismissed anticipatory bail applications moved by Praveen Khandya, who is being projected by criminal investigation department as the kingpin behind the abduction of Tejas Gowda, a case which resulted in the suicide by deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Kallappa Handibag, and Nataraj, owner of Kalmane Chit Fund.

A first information report about handing over Rs 10 lac to DySP Kallappa Handibag in terms of a deal struck between two groups had been registered on July 4 this year at Basavanahalli police station here. In this case, Kallappa Handibag and five others had been named as accused. DySP, Kallappa Handibag, had committed suicide the next day. Praveen Khandya had gone underground on July 5, and his wife, Priya, had arranged for filing of anticipatory bail petition through advocate,A Raveendra, on July 12. Nataraj, who also has been accused of kidnapping Tejas Gowda, had also moved bail application.
Abhiram and Joy Milton, who have been arrested for abduction of Tejas and suicide by Kallappa Handibag, who were arrested by criminal investigation department, were handed over to judicial custody on Monday.
Bengaluru: Deceased DySP's close ones meet chief minister
Bengaluru, Jul 26: Family members of Chikkamagaluru deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Kallappa Handibag, who committed suicide on July 5, met chief minister(CM), Siddaramaiah, on Monday July 25 at his official residence, 'Kaveri'.
Kallappa's parents, wife, child, brother, and sister, met the CM. MLA, A S Patil Nadahalli, was also present. About this meeting, Siddaramaiah made a mention in the Facebook post made in the official page.
They told the CM that Kallappa was innocent. They demanded strict action against those who were behind his death. They said that their primary concern was to wipe out the blemish Kallappa's reputation had suffered because of this episode. They handed over a memorandum seeking these actions.
Siddaramaiah told them that investigation into Kallappa's suicide case is progressing and that those found guilty will be acted against. He also assured that Kallappa's death would be treated as a special case, and in tune with the promise made in the assembly, his wife, Vidya, would be absorbed in government service shortly.
MLA, S T Somashekhar, who also happens to be the chairman of Cooperative Housing Federation, who was present at the spot, promised to provide employment to Kallappa's brother in one of the cooperative societies.
