Bagalkot, Jul 25: A youth who pursued a girl till she fell for him started to neglect her after learning that she had become pregnant. Later it transpired that he had already married a girl. After impregnating his second victim, he married for a third time too. But now he is absconding.

Mahesh was a college student. He persistently followed a girl named Akshata, who had just then joined first year PU class. She became pregnant. The family members of the girl then began to persuade him to marry her. He started showing neglect and then put forth demand for money. Akshata's parents, in order to protect the family's standing and honour, raised loan by pledging gold, and handed over three lac rupees to Mahesh, it is gathered.

The boy, after getting cash, continued to postpone marriage. He also began to pester for more money. In the meanwhile, Akshata's family shifted base to Dotihaa village in Kushtagi taluk, Koppal district, from Bagalkot in order to escape from his harassment. But there was no let up in his pestering.

Sujatha in the meanwhile, was shocked to learn that Mahesh had already married a girl named Sujata. In the recent past, he had married another girl, perhaps after collecting money from her family. Determined to teach him a lesson, Akshata and her family, who have been cheated, visited the office of Koppal district superintendent of police and sought justice. The policemen are trying to find the whereabouts of the boy and arrest him.
