Udupi: 'Nobody can Question My Right to Worship Lord Krishna'

DHNS

Udupi, Nov 27: Puttige mutt seer Sugunendrateertha Swamiji finally broke his silence during Dhaanya muhurtha in Puthige mutt on Monday and said nobody can snatch away his right to worship Lord Srikrishna during paryaya. Dhaanya muhurtha is a ritual performed as part of Paryaya.

"I will worship Lord Krishna during Paryaya. For the last 750 years, the tradition of Paryaya Seer worshipping Lord Sri Krishna is being carried out. No Matadhishas have the right to question it. Only Puthige moola samsthana Seer Upendra Theertha, who had given me ‘deeksha’ had the right to question," he said.

It may be recalled that the meeting of ‘ashtamathadheeshas’ had resolved that though Puttige mutt seer Sugunendrateertha Swamiji cannot worship Sri Krishna during his paryaya, he can be given the responsibility of the administration of Krishna mutt.

The pontiff’s ‘saagarollanghana’ (crossing the sea) was the reason for his ‘disqualification.’

"My foreign tour was to spread the Madhwa philosophy. I have followed it faithfully. In this background, nobody can deny me the right to worship Lord Sri Krishna. There is no need to find an alternative to it," he added.

In the meantime, Pejawar Seer has given a written statement to support the paryaya of Puthige seer.

"There is no need to discuss on the confusion. This is my third paryaya and will become Vishwaprayaya," the Puttige seer added.

"There are several confusions over several religious rituals among the ashtamutts. There is a need to solve it and need to have religious framework. A committee has been constituted by the Puthige mutt. Other Ashtamutt seers can give suggestions to this committee," the seer said.

"All four muhurthas and all the preparatory rituals for the Paryaya have been completed. I will enter Udupi (Purapravesha) on December 28 and will get ready for Paryaya," he added.

No foreign tour

To a query, the Sugunendra Seer informed that he does not have any plans of going abroad before the paryaya.
