Mangaluru, Aug 6: Two trucks collided with each other at Haleangady junction on national highway 66 on Friday August 5 night, as a result of which one of the drivers suffered extensive injuries.

A truck which was moving towards Udupi with a load of chemicals hit a truck coming from opposite direction which was loaded with iron rods. As the legs of the driver of the truck carrying iron rods got stuck, he suffered grave injuries. He was admitted into hospital in critical condition.

The stretch of the national highway 66 at Padupanambur here was converted into two-lane from two-lane to facilitate repair of a minor bridge on the highway there. Cabins of both the trucks got entangled in this accident, and crane and JCB had to be summoned to separate the two.
