Bengaluru, Aug 28: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that separate meeting will be called soon to discuss problems faced in the coastal region.
The discussions will comprise of forming a separate regulation for sand mining, solving the problems faced during sale of land after conversion under form No. 9 and 11 and other problems and demands.
Speaking to a delegation of ministers in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, Congress MLAs and leaders led by Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes on Saturday, Aug 27 in his office at Krishna, the Chief Minister said that the government is bound to solve the demands of people in the region and detailed discussions will be held on them.
The delegation explained that construction works have stopped due to scarcity of sand in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. 'The permission given for sand mining for traditional fishermen in CRZ area is cancelled. Therefore a separate regulation should be formed for sand mining there. Relaxation of rules for land dealings on the basis of form 9 and 11 should be made. Kerosene oil should be regularly distributed to country boat fishermen. Vented dams should be constructed to rivers in the coastal districts and Paschima Vahini project should be implemented.', were the demands made by the delegation.
Responding to the demands, the Chief Minister said as he has to participate in all party meeting regarding distribution of Cavery river water, a separate meeting will be called to discuss these matters.
The delegation also held discussions regarding problems and demands concerning revenue department in the districts, rural development and panchayat raj, fisheries and department of food, sand mining and sea erosion. The delegation also requested for additional grant for the construction of third floor in Udupi court building.
Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, Udupi district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj, Law minister T B Jayachandra, former minister Abhayachandra Jain, MLAs J R Lobo, Gopala Poojary, Pratapchandra Shetty, Lalaji Mendon and others were present.
