Bengaluru, Aug 31: The Karnataka Bandh call given on September 2 is gaining more and more support with each passing day, and as such,is likely to prove a thumping success.
Organizations backing the bandh call have cited various issues like opposition to the new road safety act of the union government, failure to control rising prices, and others in support of the bandh. Labour unions, some students and social organizations have supported the bandh call. Karnataka Bandh will be a part of Bharat Bandh call given on September 2.
Government buses, private vehicles etc will be off the roads that day. Businesses will down their shutters as their unions have supported the call.
Some of the other demands in support of the bandh call are opposition to sale of public sector undertakings to private sector, not to ammend labour act to serve the interests corporate companies etc. Employees of KSRTC, BMTC, Bank employees, insurance companies, lorry owners, auto drivers, taxi drivers, some sltudent unions, etc have supported the bandh call, said Centre for Indian Trade Unions leader, K N Umesh.
The organizers said that the main aim of the bandh call is to bring pressure on the central government, but services like milk, vegetables, hospitals, medical shops, and ambulance services will be exempt from bandh call. But petrol bunks and gas cylinder suppliers may remain closed for the day, they have warned, as some of the employees of these concerns will be supporting the bandh call.
