Mangaluru, Sep 8: Jamaath Committee at Bajpe Suralpady has said that membership of Bava Padarangi and his family have only been cancelled, and that they were not socially boycotted as reported in the media. It noted that Bava Padanrangi has complained to the city police commissioner, claiming that he and his family have been boycotted by the Jamaath Committee for questioning the style of functioning of Madrassa at Bajpe Suralpady.
Bava had said that he was kicked out of Jamaath after he questioned the justifiability of making the children stand in rain during the assembly at Madrassa. He also said that the current Jamaath committee there is unauthorized, and that a complaint about the decision of the committee has been sent to the state wakf board.

Jamaath committee members admitted that Bava had questioned about making the children to stand in rain, but added that he also spoke arrogantly thereafter and derided senior priest of the mosque in harsh words, that too addressing him in singular. Therefore the general membership of Bava Padarangi and his wife in the Jamaath committee were temporarily cancelled. If Bava comes out with unconditional apology, the issue can be amicably settled, they clarified.
Bava Padarangi however refused to apologize, saying that he had never spoken disrespectfully of the priest of the mosque. He said he was targetted for questioning the fact that the children were made to soak in rain. He insists that the constitution of the Jamaath committee is illegal.
Vice president of the Jamaath, Abdul Majeed, said that Bava Padarangi and family were removed from membership and not subjected to social boycott as claimed by him. He said that his membership was cancelled after he failed to attend Jamaath committee meeting in spite of having been served with notices in this regard thrice.
