Mangalore, Dec 14: The all countries across the globe are looking at India. Karnataka has been known all over the world for being unique in IT sector. Dakshina Kannada (DK) has made waves as capital of education. DK has been representing excellence in all the fields, said BR Bhat, general manager, Corporation Bank who was chief guest of united valedictory function of various college fests held in St Aloysius College on Friday December 14 evening.
The annual inter-collegiate fests ‘Art Beat’07’ (Arts), ‘Imprints’07’ (Science), ‘Spin out’07’ (Management) and ‘ACME’ 07’ (Commerce) which were held fro two days concluded on Friday evening.
The world is increasingly becoming arena of competition. India is going to be one of the top three nations by 2020, in terms of development, for the fact that 60% of India's population lies between the age group of 18 to 25. Hence young generation needs to have a definite focus, he added.
Perseverance and persistence will definitely bring in changes. Every opportunity must be utilized. It is important of becoming part and parcel of the system. Having mere degree is not enough, it is better to have 'more,' he added.
Relations being deepened, talents being ignited are the true signs of God's existence. The valedictory ceremony is the replication of the true signs, said Fr Francis Serrao, rector, St Aloysius Educational Institutions, congratulating the organizers and others who were directly and indirectly involved in organizing the four annual inter-collegiate fests.
Setting a definite goal, sticking to it, opting for the best and being prepared for the worst, taking initiatives and being tenacious will yield results at the end, he added.
In ‘Imprints’ the first place was bagged by SDM College and St Agnes College was the runner up. The department of commerce of the host college announced St Joseph College, Bangalore, runner up and St Agnes College the winner of the fest ‘ACME’07’. In ‘Art Beat’, St Xavier's College, Goa was honoured with the first place and St Agnes College was announced the runner up and Mountain View College, Chikmagalur lost to St Agnes College and had to satisfy for the second place in ‘Spin-Out’07’, the annual fest organized by Department of Business Management of the college.
Denis D'Silva, Swebert D'Silva, principal of St Aloysius College, deans of various faculties and office-bearers of the student council of the college were present on the occasion.
