Mangalore: Police Seize Vehicles Bearing Duplicate Numbers

Mangalore, Dec 15: The city police have recovered three cars bearing duplicate number plates which were found in various places in the city, on Thursday December 13.  

The police intercepted a Maruti Alto car at Azizuddin Road, located in busy Bunder area while the driver, Muneer Ahmed managed to escape abandoning his car.  The investigations at Regional Transport Office (RTO) revealed that he was using a duplicate number plate. 

Meanwhile, the police have also recovered a Scorpio 4WD worth Rs 8 lac and Maruti Zen car worth Rs 1 lac which was parked at old service bus stand, for many days.  Both these vehicles were affixed with duplicate number plates.

The operation of recovering the automobiles bearing duplicate number plates was undertaken by Vinay Gaonkar, sub-inspector of Bunder police station led by D Dharmayya, assistant sub-inspector under the direction of Additional SP B S Lokesh Kumar.

C Kiran, sub-inspector of city north police station, Narayan Byndoor, Shashikant, Umesh Hosalike, Mohan K V, Damodar K, Santhosh Padil, Praveen M, Chethan Botyady, Rajaram, police constables were involved in this operation.
