'Ek Aslyar Ek Na' : First Konkani movie screened in USA

by Bernie Pinto--D'Souza

New Jersey, Oct 11: October 9 marked yet another historical day for Mangalureans here who witnessed the first ever screening of a Konkani movie in the US. The movie 'Ek Aslyar Ek Na' has been a great hit in other countries so far and the producers of the movie wanted to get it to North America. MCA-EC took up this challenge and in spite of all the odds, were able to make it possible thereby truly living up to principles.

The movie was liked by all especially for the comedy and photography. Konkani cinema has definitely come a long way and people in America enjoyed seeing the picturesque beauty of Mangaluru that was so well depicted in the movie. For many of us, it was reminiscing our childhood and the scenarios that are so typical of our native land.

For being the premier show in the US, the response was good but, definitely hope to get the word out and help make possible many more future konkani movie screenings in the US.

MCA-EC  thanks the following for their great support:

Alphonse D'Souza for coordinating with MCA-EC,  Victor Sequeira for introducing MCA-EC to the producer of the movie Frank Fernandes, Anita Pinto for arranging the screening with the Cinema in NJ,  Christopher Monis for photography and video clips at the movie screening and MCA-EC Board for publicity and facilitating the screening.
