ISL: Brazil's Cunha replaces injured Sangoy for Mumbai City FC

Mumbai, Oct 25 (IANS): Mumbai City FC on Tuesday announced the signing of Brazilian striker Thiago Cunha as a replacement for injured Gaston Sangoy, who fractured his right foot during the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) football tournament.

The 31-year-old Brazilian has played in top leagues like the Brazilian Seria A and AFC Champions League amongst others. He won the 2011 Brazilian Pernambucano State championship and the 2010 Brazilian Paraibano State championship.

With 45 appearances in his last two seasons, he proved to be a valuable asset to his teams with a good goal scoring record.

Commenting on the replacement Mumbai City FC head coach Alexandre Guimaraes said: "While losing Gaston to injury was a big blow, in Thiago we have found a great replacement. He has a brilliant goal scoring record and we are confident he is going to be a big asset to the club in the remainder of the season."

Mumbai will play hosts Atletico de Kolkata later on Tuesday.
