Uppinangady, Jan 3: “Kabaddi has been sport of rural India which has contributed laurels to our country. However, there lies the need to encourage this sport at the prevailing situation of sports across the nation. Besides, the women have to take earnest interest in Kabaddi, which keeps the body in shape, develops fast reflexes and agility, in order to make international debut” said Rosemary Precilla, Indian international Kabaddi player.
She was speaking at the inaugural of Mangalore University inter-collegiate-level women Kabaddi tournament, commenced here, on Wednesday, January 2.
“Budding Kabaddi players should not restrict their athletics to college-level only”, said Rosemary Precilla. Moreover, she called on the promising Kabaddi players to be energized to compete in state, national and international-level.
The programme was presided over by Prof Vasant Kumari, College principal. Shayana Jayanand, Zilla Panchayat member, Kaje Eshwar Bhat, member of College development committee, Purushottam, physical education lecturer, Gokarnatheshwar College, Mangalore, also spoke at the occasion.
