Madikeri, Nov 25: A group of robbers assaulted three men and decamped with valuables worth Rs 50 lacs in Hosapattana near Kushalnagar on November 24.
Police later arrested three suspects in this connection.

The robbers who knew that a person named Patel Shivakumar (60) was living alone in Hosapattana conducted the robbery at about 7.15 am. Shivakumar’s wife is staying with their daughter who is studying in Mangaluru.
Shivakumar was preparing to go to Bengaluru in the morning when his relative Vishwanath arrived home. Meanwhile a group of 8 men with deadly weapons entered the house through the coffee estate. They tied Vishwanath and fastened plaster on his mouth threatening to kill him. They later caught Shivakumar when he was trying to escape and tied him. They pasted plaster on his mouth also.
The robbers with their faces covered forcibly took the key of Godrej cupboard and ransacked it. They also took a revolver from there with 8 live bullets.
The looted items included Rs 1 lac of new currency withdrawn from bank two days earlier, Rs 6 lac in old currency, diamond and gold ornaments. The total value exceeded Rs 60 lac.
One of the robbers meanwhile locked the main door and then went to the backdoor and joined other robbers. Meanwhile Shivakumar’s friend, neighbour Ishwar came to their house to go to Bengaluru. He went to the backdoor as the front door was locked. Two of the robbers hit him on the face. When he tried to get up, they threatened him also. Ishwar got up when the robbers left and informed the neighbours and local people who called the police.
The police who saw a man suspiciously wandering with scratch marks from shrubs took him into custody. A daily wage worker identified that he is the man who was waiting outside the house brandishing deadly weapons.
After the police brought dog squad, they arrested two more men on suspicion.
The DSP, DySP, circle inspector, police inspector, anti naxal squad and others are conducting investigation.
