A blend of realism with surrealism on canvas

New Delhi, Dec 2 (IANS): Taking inspiration from her childhood memories, artist Manu Singh presents her contemporary art works through painting exhibition titled "Wooden Horse -- a self portrait".

With wooden horse as her lead protagonist for the paintings, she blends reality with surrealism.

The paintings which are based on oil, some mixed with charcoal, conveys hope, achievement and possibilities in a time of uncertainty, highlighting the turbulent world.

"For me, the wooden horse was attached with associations on which I could travel to various magical imaginary destinations. The wooden horse symbolises self with realistic backdrops like the sky, the ocean or even the earth," Singh, who took three years to complete the series, told IANS.

The painting exhibition is currently being showcased at the Triveni Kala Sangam here till December 10.
