College Park, Maryland (USA), Dec 5: The DC Mangalorean Association hosted an enjoyable and memorable Christmas celebration at the Rasoi Restaurant in College Park, Maryland.
Over 120 people including children from Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia joined in the celebration. Daryl Fernandes was the MC for the evening. The event started with a Nativity play by the children. Carol D'Souza , Renita Nazareth and Joann Albuquerque organized the play and selection of songs. The choir provided some beautiful Christmas music and everyone joined in singing Christmas songs.
Juliet Vas, president of the Mangalorean Association then welcomed everyone. The vice-president, Reynel Castelino joined in welcoming everyone and talked about the upcoming elections to elect the new committee of the Mangalorean Association. Later, Harold D’Souza spoke briefly about the opportunities to support his non-profit organization, CREST International.
Children were excited when Santa showed with up with presents for them and posed with them for pictures. Juliet, Carol, Joann and Renita hosted a variety of games for the guests. There were a number of spot prizes and raffle prizes including gift cards, gift hamper and wine bottle among others. There was a silent auction for the three Kuswar baskets beautifully prepared by the committee.
Gracy D’Souza led the prayer before meal. The attendees were treated to delicious appetizers and a sumptuous dinner. DJ Theo added to the joyful mood by playing some great music. Almost everybody was on the dance floor and had a fantastic time.
