Panaji, Dec 12: Heralding a new era in Konkani music, online Radio Station, ‘Radio Buyao’ was formally launched by noted singer Padmashree Kavita Krishnamurthy at a function held at Kalangann Mangaluru on Sunday, December 11.
In the scintillating function, the online radio was launched during 8th Global Konkani Awards, in the presence of Eric Ozario, founder, Mandd Sobhann, and Louis Pinto, president, Mandd Sobhann. Kavita Krishnamurthy congratulated Radio Buyao for starting the online channel and said that all should support this effort and appreciate the artists.
The online radio station is the brainchild of the renowned musician and singer, Sidhanath Buyao, who said that this platform would be to reach out the Konkani speaking and loving people across the world, binding them together through Konkani music and building the bridge between communities across the globe.
During the award function, Buyao also performed with his team and mesmerised the gathering.
Radio Buyao already began a dry run from Monday, December 5.
The programmes on Radio Buyao will comprise chat shows and interaction with artists, prominent citizens and politicians. Some of these chats will also be shot and posted on its youtube channel and facebook page.
Rupesh Samant from the media engaged in a conversation with the RadioBuyao and RJ Anay Kamat and Joella Pereira.
"The concept of online radio emerged as most of the frequency-based channels did not give much time to Konkani music and broadcasted more of bollywood programmes. With the growing number of internet users, the radio is all set to become the talk of the town. My idea is also to give a platform to young Goan musicians and singers and create new songs every month. The Radio will also host many interactive shows,” Sidhanath said.
Speaking further about his creation, he said, "Today everyone in a car has aux connections and one will be able to listen to radio by downloading the android app. Radio Buyao already started its chats and recorded with few politicians which were aired during the dry run."
"Radio Buyao will be streaming music at very low bit rate so that streaming will be very smooth without any buffering depending on the mobile connection," he said.
