Bangalore, Jan 30: There were spells of fun and laughter and some tears of joy on Monday January 28 at Maithri Vana at Indira Nagar Club here where over 125 past pupils of St Agnes College gathered.  Organized by The  Agnesian Association (Bangalore unit), the meeting saw the participation of past pupils presently settled in parts of Bangalore, Mangalore, Chennai, Kerala and even as far Australia and England.   Participants were in their forties and seventies recalling rare moments at the college.

Priya Mascarenhas, the chief guest who chaired the function said it was a matter of great pride to belong to an institution that is known to be the first college started for women in south India and the second in the country.

Sr Prem D'Souza, principal of St Agnes College, Mangalore, Sr Marie Evelyn, vice-principal and Olga Noronha were present for the programme.

The president of the Bangalore unit Lorna Fernandes in her address noted that  coming together is always an opportunity to reassure each other and strengthen the common Agnesian bond and value system that is shared by them.

Sr Prema D'Souza informed the gathering that St Agnes College has been awarded complete autonomy to run their institution.

The Agnesian unit has been donating part of the profits made and their own personal contributions to Deena Seva Charitable trust (Infant Jesus Home for the HIV effected children) and to Karunashraya (Terminal Cancer Centre) at Marathalli, simultaneously.  This year it was decided to donate the amount to Karunashraya.
